My Other Family History Sites
The Stephenson's originate from County Durham, notibly the Easington Colliery area.
My Great Grandfather, John Newby Stephenson married Polly (real name Mary Ann) Lowther in 1904.
They had, among other children, my Grandfather, George Edward Stephenson.
George married Elsie Wray, one of the seven children of Elizabeth Collier and Henry Wray.
George and Elsie had six children, Ronald, Hazel, Elizabeth, Elsie, Jean (who died as a child), and my father John Robert Stephenson.
My Uncle Ronald married Brenda and they had their children, Tracey, Ronnie, Brenda (deceased),Deborah and Julie
My Aunty Hazel married Anthony Wilson, and they had three children, Michael, Tony and Catherine.
My Aunty Elizabeth married John and they had two children, John and Karen.
Aunty Elsie has three children, Michael, Jamie and Judith.
My Grandfather, George Edward Stephenson had a brother Robert.
Robert married my Mothers Aunt, Edith, which makes my Mother and Father cousins, although I am assured they were not close as children.
My Father, John has eight children, his first John Robert was born to a Susan Clarke, in 1976. Susan and my dad seperated shortly after John's birth, and I have never met John. (If your reading this John get in touch! or if anyone knows of his whereabouts, please leave a message in the guestbook!)
My Dad then met my mother, and they married shortly after my birth in 1980.
Then came my two sisters, Joanne in 1981 and Sherrie in 1983.
My Mother and Father divorced in 1987, and he lived with his partner Colette. They had a daughter, Natasha, who is the funniest person I have ever met, in 1987.
The relationship ended and he met Julie Quinn, and they moved to Julie's home town of Portsmouth shortly after my the birth of Ashley, my brother.
There they had my other two brothers,Arron in 1993 and Josh in 1995.
Julie and Dad seperated in 1996, but remain close friends, and although they are not together, I love her like my own Mother. The most wonderful, and wise person I have ever met, and an exceptional mother of a whopping 8 children.

The Stephenson are a huge family, and nearly all of them live in Easington.
Tom Stephenson, son of Robert and Edith painted Gypsy Caravans and showed them allover the country.
He would spend painstaking hours sat with a brush in one hand and gold leaf in the other, painting intricate and elegant detail on them.
He sadly died in 1997.
My Great Grandfather John Newby Stephenson, was a Butcher, and his father, and his fathers father..all butchers!
My Grandfather George Edward Stephenson, was a Hawker, and would walk the streets of Easington selling his wares.
It was not a profession of high scholar, but he made enough money, and they were reported to be the first family on the street to have a colour television.
My Grandmother Elsie Wray suffered a stroke in 1956, when my father was 2 and even though she was left disabled, managed to raise her children with love and determination. An inspirational woman.
Has I learn more about my family history, the more I realise just what an extraordinary group they were, and they are an inspiration to me.

I love you all.
